We offer pilot training in our modern fleet of two seat gliders
and the opportunity to fly our single seat gliders once
qualified. Training is carried out by BGA (British Gliding
Association) qualified instructors.
Gliding is an affordable way of exploring the skies as your
training with instructors is included in the prices that we
charge, but both membership and flying charges here at the D&SGC
are very competitive, and you can find these under both the
members and visitors section of this site.
Once you have joined, you will
not only learn to fly, but as everything is carried on on a
voluntary basis, you will also learn to operate our winch, land
rovers and other equipment, as well as help retrieve and launch
gliders, or perhaps act as a log keeper at our launch point
operation.
To help you become a successful
glider pilot we also offer theory briefings and lectures.
Our clubhouse also offers a full
catering facility on our usual flying days, Wednesdays,
Thursdays and weekends throughout the year.
During the summer we also run
week long courses. These are open to everyone irrespective
of previous experience and are a brilliant way to kick start
your gliding career or provide a boost to your training with a
full week of flying, weather permitting of course!
Trial Lesson Evenings are also
very popular during the summer so if you have a group of
friends, work colleagues, social or youth group, we can arrange
a team of instructors helpers and gliders just for you and at a
specially discounted rate!
